Meizu MX – The First of the MX Series

Launched in January 2012, the Meizu MX was the company’s first phone in the iconic MX series. It brought a stylish design, powerful Samsung Exynos chipset, and Meizu’s Flyme OS interface to compete with leading Android flagships of the time.

Design & Build Quality

The Meizu MX had a minimalist slate design with a glossy plastic back and Meizu’s signature small round home button on the front. Measuring 121.3 × 63.3 × 10.3 mm and weighing 139 g, it was compact and ergonomic—offered only in white. Display

The MX featured a **4.0-inch ASV LCD** with a resolution of **640 × 960 pixels (~288 ppi)**. The sharp screen was one of the best in its size class, giving users crisp visuals, vibrant colors, and wide viewing angles. Performance

Under the hood, the MX ran on the **Samsung Exynos 4210 Dual** chipset with a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and Mali-400 GPU. It packed **1 GB RAM** and **16 GB or 32 GB internal storage** (no microSD expansion). This hardware allowed smooth performance and strong multimedia handling for its time. Camera

The rear **8 MP autofocus camera** featured LED flash and was capable of recording **1080p video** at 30 fps. A **0.3 MP VGA front camera** was included for video calls. While modest by today’s standards, the MX’s main shooter was competitive in 2012. ([mobilawy.com](https://mobilawy.com/en/product/meizu_mx-4545?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

Battery & Connectivity

With an **1,600 mAh non-removable battery**, the MX provided average endurance for daily tasks. Connectivity options included 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, microUSB, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. NFC and 4G support were not present. Software & Flyme OS

The MX shipped with **Android 2.3 Gingerbread**, upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, with **Flyme OS 1.0** on top. Flyme introduced Meizu’s minimalist design philosophy and gesture-based navigation, which would later define the MX series experience.
